Units
Units are the major object of Altera Terra. They are the only things that move around on the map.
There are several types of units:
- Civil units, like workers or settlers
- Military units, like warriors, musketeers or tanks
- Aerial units, like fighters or helicopters
- Naval units, like the galleon or the battleship
Experience
During their lifetime, units will gather experience. In general, units will start at a level of "drafted" which is experience level 0.
There might be certain situations, when units will start off with one or even two penalty levels, depending e.g. on the social situation.
In total, there are eight levels of experience:
Level | Description | Bonus/Malus | Stars |
-2 | Very green | -20% | ** |
-1 | Green | -10% | * |
0 | Drafted | +/-0% | |
+1 | Trained | +10% | * |
+2 | Experienced | +25% | ** |
+3 | Veteran | +40% | *** |
+4 | Expert | | **** |
+5 | Elite | +75% | ***** |
Experience is improved, if units are created in a town or city with the barracks improvement.
With this, they start out with one higher level of experience, which means they usually start at the "trained" level instead of "drafted".
For military units, experience usually means better combat ability.
For civil units, however, experience means that they will be faster to build things or have a higher yield (e.g. more commerce generated by a caravan or a trader unit)
Visions
In a later stage, technologically advanced units will have lots of capabilities. Ideas are:
- Battleship: Can send a cruise misille to cities or tiles with 80% probability of destroying a certain building or unit.
- Different unit types require different improvements for experience (military - barracks, civil - university, naval - navy base, aerial - airport).
